2014 Gambling Participation Study Results

According to Xinhua news agency, the Singapore Government’s latest Gambling Participation Survey shows problem gambling at a 10-Year low.

The study conducted every three years surveyed 3000 residents over 18 years of age.

Results indicated that 0.7 percent of the population had a problem with gambling, a decline as opposed to 2.6 percent in 2011.

The overall gambling rate of Singapore residents declined to 44 percent in 2014 (2011: 47 percent) a figure impacted by increased advertising, awareness and assistance offered.

Other stats included:

83 percent of pathological gamblers exhibit such behaviour at least once a week, up from the 68 percent in 2011.
18 percent of problem gamblers had begun gambling younger than 18 years old, up from the 5 percent in 2011.
