Thursday January 21,2016 : SKILLZ CLAIMS FIRST CROSS-PLATFORM MULTIPLAYER SYSTEM FOR MOBILE

Players can compete with one another across Android and iOS devices.

Mobile eSports company Skillz has claimed that it is the first to launch a cross-platform multi-player system for mobile punters, enabling players on Android and iOS systems to compete against one another in the 150,000 daily competitions currently available on the Skillz website.

Skillz CEO Andrew Paradise says that the company has to date paid out more than $21 million as the player base grows, boasting seven million registered players and well over a thousand developer partners.

Paradise claims that last year his company paid out 20 percent of the $80 million awarded across all eSports sites in a fast-growing market, a figure confirmed by monitor eSportsEarnings.com..

“As eSports achieve mainstream adoption, multiplayer competitions should be accessible to all 2.1 billion mobile gamers worldwide,” Paradise said this week.

“Just like the AFL – NFL merger in 1966, or the ABA - NBA merger in 1976, we are unifying the competitive ecosystems of the two most popular mobile eSports platforms. This is a seminal moment in the future of sports.”
