Injunction falls away, miapuesta.es to resume trading

Meeting all the requirements set by the Spanish licencing authority; agreeing the payment of Euro 14 million in back tax and surcharges; and a further Euro 3.2 million in interest has paid off for SportingBet with the announcement today of the award of a Spanish eGaming licence.

Parts of an injunction imposed on Sportingbet's Spanish-facing business in March of this year fall away with the granting of the new licence said a spokesperson and the company will resume trading on miapuesta.es when the market formally opens on June 5.

The remaining issues of the injunction will be addressed with an application to the Commercial Court in Madrid, which the company will seek to have cancelled said the company statement.

Early reports suggest other licence recipients include Codere, Cirsa, Jaxx and bet365.
