SPORTECH’S THE FOOTBALL POOLS ACQUISITION DEAL FAILS (Update)

Focus on maximizing opportunities continues.

Sportech Plc’s GBP 97.25 million acquisition discussions with Burlywood Capital LLC regarding the sale of The Football Pools have failed.

A statement from Sportech simply states Burlywood were unable to conclude the transaction set out in the proposal.

"The Football Pools is a valuable asset which has been transformed following a lengthy modernization program,” Ian Penrose, chief executive of Sportech plc, commented.  “We will continue to focus on maximising opportunities for the business."
