Stan James To Offer Speed Poker

Wednesday May 16, 2012 : NOW STAN JAMES PLANS TO OFFER SPEED POKER

Microgaming's Blaze Poker has its first licensee…

Microgaming's entry into the phenomenally popular speed poker market invented by Full Tilt Poker with its Rush Poker innovation is apparently being spearheaded by the internet poker wing of Gibraltar-based online bookie Stan James plc, which plans to launch the genre soon.

Branded Blaze Poker, the product will be competing with Pokerstars' Zoom product, which the online poker giant – also based on the Isle of Man – formally launched in real money format this week following some 300 million hands of beta-test action.

Also competing in the increasingly crowded speed poker space is Relax Gaming with its Fast Poker offering and Instadeal, which has been around since 2010. The former appears to be making some headway, having signed up Betsafe this week and Unibet, Betsson and iGame last month.

Most speed poker products essentially follow the model introduced by FTP as fast action ring games that provide players with more hands in less time; once a player folds their hand, he or she is instantly re-seated at another table with a new set of players from the same pool.

Blaze will provide players multi table capability with a fast fold on-screen button if the desire is to fold and move on. It is understood there's a ‘sit-out' check box as well, which enables the player to move to an empty table until he or she decides to get back into the action. The types of game and the stakes available have yet to be announced.
