Station Casinos Get Nevada Online Poker License

Friday April 19, 2013 : NEVADA AWARDS MORE ONLINE POKER LICENSES

Station Casinos and Secure Trading approved

Station Casinos and Secure Trading are the latest companies to be awarded Nevada online poker licensing by the Nevada Gaming Commission, the Las Vegas Sun newspaper reported Thursday.

Secure Trading is an industry services supplier involved in payment processing, customer identification and geolocation services, and is a subsidiary of the well-known and pro-online gambling UK company UC Group Limited, which has actively promoted the cause of regulated online gambling for several years.

Station Casinos is a major land gambling group that already holds a Nevada online poker operator licence through its subsidiary Fertitta Interactive  but now has also been given a service provider licence for its Ultimate Gaming company, a sub-group that includes online poker software developer Cyberarts.

Station Casinos representatives received a serious grilling on their proposed use of their own software rather than that of a proven supplier, and gave assurances that every precaution against underage and problem gambling, collusion, fraud and money laundering, had been implemented.

Thomas Breitling of Station Casinos was optimistic about prospects: “Some say it’s a $100 million market,” he said, adding that his company had committed millions of dollars to development with online poker specifically in mind.

Tobin Prior, another spokesman for the company, said: “It was frustrating to sit on the side-lines watching all this unlicensed and unregulated gambling taking place."

He revealed that the company has 38 full-time employees developing its online poker system in Las Vegas and said that number will rise to 100 in about a year.

A.G. Burnett, chairman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board, said all the systems approved by the Commission thus far are currently being evaluated in the agency laboratory, and that none has received approval to go forward yet.
