Sunday November 17 ,2013 : DUTCH MONEY LAUNDERING ARRESTS (Update)

CEO of Bubble Group among those detained.

Further details have been released on Friday's news that four Dutch men with online gambling connections have been arrested in the Netherlands and charged with laundering around Euro 110 million

It has now been confirmed that the arrests are associated with the major raids conducted by Dutch police earlier this year, in which the CEO of Bubble Group, Stijn Flapper, was allegedly implicated.

Sheriff Gaming, a Bubble Group subsidiary, has consistently denied any wrongdoing in the affair.

The raids in April this year included the shuttering of seven online gambling sites that were allegedly providing gambling services to Dutch punters.

Several Dutch newspapers, including the Omroep Brabant and NL Times have now identified those arrested and remanded this week as Flapper, brothers Michel and Maurice Gregoire and a 60-year-old man identified only as a financial advisor.

Several reports indicate that Michel Gregoire is regarded by investigators as the principal defendant.

In a website statement, Sheriff Gaming acknowledged that Flapper was involved, in the process putting a more positive spin on the incident by referring to his arrest as an invitation to an official interview with the police.

The company also reprised its official stance that Flapper was blameless, saying he would at last learn exactly what charges he is facing and be presented with the opportunity to respond. Sheriff also again emphasised that the money laundering allegations do not relate to Sheriff Gaming or its parent Bubble Group.

"Our business is the honest business of creating cutting edge 3D gambling games whilst our activities have nothing to do at all with money laundering activities whatsoever,” the company asserted.
