Tuesday October 29,2013 : SWEDES RESTRICT ONLINE GAMBLING ADVERTISING

New rules on bonuses following complaints against operators

Following complaints against Unibet and Vera&John Casino for flighting advertisements "without a due sense of social responsibility" earlier this month), the Swedish Gaming Industry Ethical Council has issued new guidelines restricting bonus offers to the equivalent in Swedish Kronor of around $32.

The online gambling operators were criticised by the Swedish advertising ombudsman at the beginning of October and accused of breaching the International Chamber of Commerce’s (ICC) rules relating to advertising and marketing.

An outdoor ad and TV commercial produced by Unibet, and an online banner ad for Vera&John, were all found to breach articles 1 and 5 of ICC advertising rules, after Swedish Gaming Industry Ethical Council complained to the ombudsman.
