Swiss land casino industry Still Declining

Eighth consecutive year of sliding revenues.
 
The Swiss land casino industry has reported a 4 percent year-on-year fall in revenues to S.Fr.681 million in 2015, the eighth consecutive year in which the industry has experienced a decline.
 
The latest decline is expected to renew demands by gambling interests that the government do more to protect the industry, which contributes to the Swiss pension system and cantons.
 
The industry faces competition from gambling venues in neighbouring countries and illegal online gambling offered by foreign operators, and the cumulative decline since 2007 now stands at 33 percent…a fall which has reduced contributions to the cantons and pension system by some 40 percent.
