NZRB AND TABCORP AWARDED COMMINGLING AUTHORISATION

Public benefit outweighs lessening of competition.

The New Zealand Commerce Commission (NZCC) has given preliminary authorisation to the New Zealand Racing Board (NZRB) to commingle totalisator horse and greyhound racing betting pools with Tabcorp Wagering Manager in Australia.

There are public benefits to commingling between the NZRB and Tabcorp despite a lessening of competition, the NZCC opined.

The preliminary authorisation includes restrictions on participating commingled pools relating to NZRB and Tabcorp’s take-out rates along with rebates and commissions paid to high volume customers.

Interested parties are invited to submit their response to the NZCC’s draft decision.
