Terry Johnson Joins Nevada Gaming Board

Wednesday October 24,2012 :  NEW APPOINTMENT TO NEVADA GAMING CONTROL BOARD

Nevada business director to replace Mark Lipparelli

The vacancy created on the Nevada Gaming Control Board by the resignation recently of Mark Lipparelli is to be filled by Terry Johnson, the director of the Nevada Department of Business and Industry.

Nevada governor Brian Sandoval announced the appointment Tuesday, revealing that the new board member will serve out the remaining two months of Lipparelli's term, which expires at the end of the year. Johnson will then likely be reappointed to a four-year term from the beginning of 2013..

"I am pleased that Terry has agreed to serve our state in this capacity," Sandoval said. "His strategic leadership and innovative thinking has helped him effectively operate one of the more complex departments in state government. I have no doubt that his regulatory experience and public service background will serve as a strong foundation for this next step."

Johnson's appointment will be followed with interest by companies interested in achieving licensing status for intrastate online poker operations in the Silver State; the NGCB is the recommending body for licensing by the Nevada Gaming Commission.
