Thai Police Make Big Online Gambling Bust


THAI POLICE IN ONLINE GAMBLING BUST
 
Month-long investigation leads to raid by the authorities.
 
A 30-strong raiding party made up of Thai anti-money laundering and police officials considerably outnumbered the six people arrested when police shut down an illegal online gambling venue in Bangkoks Bang Khunthian district Friday.
 
Police reported that the raid followed a month-long investigation into the operation, which they claim was associated with online sports betting website, www.fifaclub24.net.
 
A police spokesman told the Bangkok Post that the offenders arrested in the police operation would be further questioned as the investigation is widened, and that 12 computers and other evidence had been seized and were being studied.
 
Evidence in 90 seized bank accounts detailed over 100 million baht in transactions, he revealed.
