Posted 3/12/11 : $500 000 for Ramdin

Veteran Pokerstars Pro Team member Victor Ramdin shoed his skills at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles this week, beating a star-studded entry field for ‘The Big Event' to take home the main prize of $500 000.

Californian regulators created some last-minute hassles over the tournament , which necessitated Pokerstars and the North American Poker Tour removing their branding from the event, but that did not detract from a first class competition involving well known names. Some 417 player registered for the event, generating a prize pool of $1 921 327.

Although he held the chip lead for much of the competition, Ramdin had relinquished it as the final table formed. He faced some formidable players  in a line-up that included former WSOP champ Joe Hachem, Jeremy Ausmas, Taylor von Kriegenbergh, Bryan Leskowitz, Govert Metaal and Jose de Noronha.

When the dust had settled it was Ramdin and Hachem in the heads up, with the WSOP champ holding the chip lead. Despite the disadvantage, Ramdin delivered a spirited performance to eventually wrest the lead from Hachem and win the game, taking home the $500 000 main prize and leaving his opponent with a runner-up pay check of $300 000.

The big win takes Ramdin's career winnings to over $3 million.
