Friday July 1,2011 : Chief Executive Officer and Director of Racing for expanded betting group

UK bookmaker Betfred has appointed Trevor Beaumont, formerly chief executive officer of the Tote, as the new chief executive officer of the enlarged Betfred Group.

Beaumont has been CEO of the Tote since November 2004. He previously held the positions of Managing Director of Coral Eurobet, Racing Director of the British Horseracing Board, and Managing Director of the betting and gaming division of UKbetting PLC.

Trevor Beaumont commented: “After over six years at the Tote, I am pleased my association will continue once the sale process is completed. I am excited about working on the integration of the two companies and I am convinced the enlarged group will be good for Racing and for employment opportunities.”

In related news, Betfred announced the appointment of Joe Scanlon as the Director of Racing for the enlarged group.

Scanlon was Managing Director of the Tote, having started his career in 1978 as a shop manager, and will work with the racecourses on developing new commercial relationships with horse racing. He will also be a member of the newly formed Tote Development Racing Board.

Commenting on both appointments, Fred Done, Chairman of Betfred, said:  "I am delighted Trevor has accepted my invitation to become Betfred CEO. His deep knowledge of the Tote makes him the ideal person to lead the integration of Betfred and the Tote and to help us realise the great potential we have from bringing the two businesses together.

"Joe Scanlon will be a welcome addition to the team with his extensive experience and I am looking forward to working with both Trevor and Joe.”
