UFC Betting : UFC 148 Rematch

Tuesday June 26, 2012 :  UFC Betting – Silva Lets Loose With Shocking Tirade That Only Adds Fuel To Fire Of UFC 148 Rematch

Heading in to this summer, there was never any doubt that the title fight rematch between UFC Middleweight champion Anderson Silva and No. 1 contender Chael Sonnen would be the most anticipated MMA  sports betting event. These two men have a long history both in the octagon and outside of it, and with their championship bout pushed back from UFC 147 to UFC 148 due to a scheduling conflict it only made more room for the fierceness of the rivalry to grow. While traditionally it is Sonnen that has been the more outspoken of the two, it was Silva that sounded off this past Monday about his upcoming battle, with a promise to “break his face and break every one of his teeth” in two weeks at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

That  quote was enough to raise eyebrows among even the casual MMA online betting fan, but that was just the beginning point for a long tirade from the fighter that many consider to be the best in the world pound-for-pound. “What I’m going to do inside the octagon is something that’s going to change the image of the sport,” Silva continued. “I’m going to make sure every one of his teeth are broken, his arms are broken, his legs are broken… he’s not going to be able to walk out of that Octagon by himself. I can guarantee that.” While the words aren’t the first between these two to turn heads, the fact that they came from Silva is somewhat surprising. Sonnen has usually been the one that has tried to stir things up between them, including his comment to a reporter about telling Silva he’s going to be “kicking down his backdoor and patting his little lady on the ass and I’m telling her to make me a steak, medium-rare just how I like it,” as well as other comments insulting his native country of Brazil.

As far as what has taken place inside the Octagon, Silva has successfully defended his UFC Middleweight title a record-nine straight times since 2006, including a fifth-round submission win over Sonnen back at UFC 117 in a fight that many felt Sonnen was in line to win had it gone to a judge’s decision. That was the win in which Silva broke the record for most consecutive UFC victories with 12, and was awarded the World MMA Awards Fight of the Year. Sonnen has been pushing for a rematch ever since, and after Silva made easy work of both Vitor Belfort and Yushin Okami with a pair of knockout wins, the challenger will finally get his rematch.

The  excitement and anticipation continues to build ahead of UFC 148, and regardless of the result the hype and buildup for this fight should ensure it will not let MMA fans down. Sonnen may have finally gotten to Silva in terms of getting him to break and speak out, but only time will tell whether or not his words will help him or come back to work against him when it is all said and done.
