Saturday March 16,2013 : BLUE SQUARE BET LEAGUE CLUBS ASKED FOR INFO IN CORRUPTION ENQUIRIES

22 UK football clubs asked for information on possible breaches of betting regulations

The UK Football Association and the Gambling Commission’s Sports Betting Intelligence Unit are jointly investigating reportedly suspicious betting patterns in the Blue Square Bet South division, and have contacted 22 football clubs requesting cooperation.

All clubs have been asked to remind players and officials of their responsibilities under FA rules amid reports that two as yet unnamed betting firms are no longer taking bets on matches involving Chelmsford, Billericay and AFC Hornchurch.

The FA said in a statement Friday: “Anyone with any information regarding possible breaches of these rules has been advised to come forward to the FA or Gambling Commission.”

A spokesman for the league added it was “inappropriate to make any comment at this stage of the investigation,” and confirmed that full cooperation will be extended to the authorities.
