Ultimate Pokers First Tournament a Success

Friday May 10,2013 : FIRST LEGAL U.S. ONLINE POKER SITE TOURNAMENT A SUCCESS (Update)

Ultimate Gaming reports a good response to $10,000 guaranteed Sunday event

The first legal intrastate online poker site, Ultimate Poker in Nevada launched its rather modest first tournament over last weekend, and reports that it was a success.

The $10,000 guaranteed Sunday event had a capped entry list of 200 players, which site officials said was fully subscribed 45 minutes before the start.

“Since going live on April 30, there has been no downtime whatsoever, and demand to play in our first $10,000 Sunday Tournament exceeded our expectations,” remarked Joe Versaci, Ultimate Gaming chief marketing officer.  “We ended up reaching our 200 player cap 45 minutes before the tournament opened.”

Encouraged by the high demand, the limit for Ultimate Poker’s next Sunday Tournament has doubled to a capacity of 400 players, doubling the potential prize pool to $20,000. The tournament features a $100 buy-in which gives players a deep starting stack of 10,000 chips whilst 15-minute levels provide hours of action-packed poker. Satellites run every day, with greater frequency on Sunday, and range from $1 to $20.

Players must be age 21 and over and in Nevada.

The winner of the first Ultimate Poker tourney was an amateur player resident in Nevada, Daniel Healey, who took home a first place prize of $4,173.

“It is really exciting to be a part of history, winning the first tournament,” Healey said.  “I have been keeping up with the news updates and poker blogs ever since Black Friday hit and was extremely excited to hear that legal online poker is here.  I am excited to be living in Nevada and playing my favorite game.”
