US Virgin Islands Ready For Online Gambling

Tuesday February 11 ,2014 :  U.S. VIRGIN ISLES TALKS UP ONLINE GAMBLING AGAIN

We're all ready to go, says AG.

The US Virgin Islands has been talking about seriously diversifying into offering online gambling licensing and regulatory services for the past year and raised the issue again this week.

Attorney General Vincent Frazer says the government's intention is to offer legal and regulated online gambling along the same lines as New Jersey, Nevada and Delaware, and that the necessary empowering legalization is now in place and ready to go.

Last March the island's Casino Control Commission asked Frazier for his professional opinion on the Virgin Islands Internet Gaming and Internet Gambling Act, passed in 2001, and after careful consideration the AG deemed the Act to be sufficiently compehensive to move forward.

U.S. Virgin Islands governor John de Jongh Jr. is backing the diversification, saying:

“This marks a turning point in the diversification of our gaming industry from land-based casinos and racinos, to internet gaming and gambling. This Act will fulfil our mission of attracting very successful global internet gaming companies to the Virgin Islands, and encourage new investments to our struggling economy.”
