Bellevue, Washington state-based online video gaming group Valve, which is the leading provider of games used in eSports competitions, has signed up for nine floors of offices in a new office tower in the city, located on Lake Washington opposite Seattle.

Valve has leased 225,000 square feet of prime office space on floors 11 to 19 at Lincoln Square’s 1.5 million square foot project after outgrowing its present offices, and will move into the new space next year.

Founded in 1996 by former Microsoft employees Gabe Newell and Mike Harrington, Valve developed critically acclaimed video games like Half-Life, Counter-Strike, Portal, Left 4 Dead, Dota 2, and Team Fortress 2. The company also launched and maintains the Source engine on which most of its games run, and the software distribution platform Steam, which has led to the Steam Machine, a line of pre-built gaming computers running SteamOS and an important eSports skins hub.
