Vojtech Ruzicka wins EPT Deauville High Roller event

Sunday February 10,2013 : RUZIKA WINS EPT DEAUVILLE HIGH ROLLER POKER EVENT

Czech live and online poker pro achieves his biggest yet career win

Czech live and online poker pro Vojtech ‘Vojta_R' Ruzicka racked up his biggest career win yet – Euro 313,000 – when he took down the 2013 European Poker Tour Deauville High Roller event over the weekend.

This young player, who hails from Liberec in the Czech Republic, has a respectable list of live tournament entries and smaller winnings to his credit that includes cashes from Monaco, Estonia, Germany, Spain and Italy, as well as six World Series of Poker cashes and eight from his native Czech Republic.

But he is perhaps better known as an online player, where he has amassed career earnings approaching $2 million.

On the third day of the event Ruzicka faced a final table of Timothy Reilly, Alexandre Reard, Martin Jacobson, Bryn Kenney, Steven Silverman, WSOP champ Jonathan Duhamel and Alain Goldberg in the High Roller finale, besting them all in four hours to win the competition after a brief but exciting tussle with runner up Timothy Reilly

Ruzika and Reilly were about even on chip counts going into the heads up, and for a while it looked as if Reilly was going to take the day, steadily building up a chip lead. The tipping point came when the two tangled over a substantial pot and Reilly lost, allowing the Czech to forge ahead.

The young Czech maintained and increased his advantage to eventually eliminate a spirited and talented opponent and send him to the cashier’s desk to collect a runner-up prize of Euro 180,000.
