Thursday June 30, 2011 : Event 47: $2,500 Omaha 8 / Stud 8 was won by Owais Ahmed in the early hours of Thursday morning after a tough three days of action, for which he earned $225,955 and a WSOP bracelet – his first.
 
In a heads up with the respected pro Michael Mizrachi, Ahmed managed to grind his opponent down in the last thirty minutes of the final level for the day, sending Mizrachi to the exit with a second placing prize of $158,148.
 
It was no mean achievement with a third day roster that included Richard Ashby, Barry Greenstein, Abe Mosseri and Scotty Nguyen among the 21 players who made it into the last day after besting an original field of 450 players.
