Five WSOP bracelet events planned for Melbourne spectacular
 
The World Series of Poker has further extended its international reach with the announcement Monday that it is to run a five bracelet WSOP tournament in Melbourne, Australia next year.
 
In addition to the principal annual tournament in Las Vegas, WSOP has been successfully operating a European version of the poker epic in recent years.
 
The World Series of Poker is expanding to Australia next year and will host five gold bracelet events as part of the WSOP Asia-Pacific.
 
WSOP Asia-Pacific will take place at the Crown Casino in Melbourne, which has solid experience from hosting the annual Aussie Millions tourney.
 
“Our goal is to establish the worldwide grand slam of poker and use our platform to elevate the game through a series of major championships,” said WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart.
 
“With WSOP Las Vegas growing annually and WSOP Europe poised for long-term success after five years, the time is right to turn our attention to the dynamic poker scene in Asia and Australia. Given Crown’s success with the ‘Aussie Millions Poker Championship’, we couldn’t ask for a better partner than Crown to establish the Asia-Pacific’s definitive poker festival.”
 
The inaugural WSOP Asia-Pacific has been scheduled for April 4-15, 2013.
