The World Series of Poker details satellites for the most expensive poker event ever

Arrangements for the World Series of Poker one million dollar buy-in Big One for One Drop tournament  are progressing apace with the announcement Wednesday of a supporting satellite program.

WSOP has named 15 U.S. land casinos where players will have the opportunity to win a million dollar seat at the tournament through satellite competitions for buy-ins as low as $65, with the program culminating in a $25,300 mega satellite in Las Vegas on June 30.

Canadian players have not been left out of the opportunity, with Loto-Québec's Grand Loto-Québec Poker Tournament at the Casino du Lac-Leamy between May 19-20.

Top international players have reportedly committed to paying the massive buy-in and competing, with former world champion and One Drop spokesperson Jonathan Duhamel confident that entries could reach almost 50 players, ensuring the biggest main prize in the history of the game.

The tournament is the brainchild of Cirque du Soleil founder and formidable poker player Guy Laliberté, who had charitable fund raising in mind as well as creating the world's biggest poker main prize for a spectacular event in Las Vegas on July 1 2012.

Just over 11 percent of every buy-in will go to the One Drop charity, which helps provide fresh water for impoverished communities in Third World countries.

Full details of the satellite program can be found on the World Series of Poker website.
