This time WSOP Europe goes to France

Breaking the pattern of a London-based championship over the past few years, the World Series of Poker Europe moves to France in 2011 and will take place at Casino Barrière de Cannes.

In a statement Monday the organisers advised that the fifth WSOP Europe will begin on October 7, 2011 and run for two weeks in a series of competitions that include seven WSOP Bracelet events.

WSOP vice president Ty Stewart commented: “Our new venue in Cannes along with our new partnership with Barrière Poker will offer the best player experience we have ever had for WSOP Europe. Players will find non-stop action throughout the two-week event, plus plenty of fun distractions in Cannes to make this the perfect poker vacation.”

The most exciting new addition to the schedule is a unique split format event.  This special four-day event will play Day 1 as 9-handed, Day 2 as six-handed, Day 3 as Heads-Up and the final table will be contested heads up.  It’s being dubbed as All-Around No Limit Hold’em Championship and will feature a Euro 10,000 + Euro 400 buy-in.

The packed schedule starts with a six-handed no-limit hold'em event with a Euro 2,500 buy-in, but there are also no-limit hold'em shootouts, pot-limit Omaha events, a six-handed PLO event, and the always exciting Euro 10,000 buy-in Main Event.

Non-stop cash games and other events will also be scheduled during the tournament, as well as a bevy of satellite tournaments.   The 2011 World Series of Poker Europe will be widely televised around the world.
