Wynn planning launch of a mobile sports book in Las Vegas

Friday January 15,2016 :  U.S. GAMBLING MOGUL NOT ENTIRELY AGAINST MOBILE.

Wynn planning launch of a mobile sports book in Las Vegas.

Steve Wynn, the high profile head of the Wynn Resorts land gambling group, has in the past seemed interested in online poker business possibilities, only to reverse course and oppose the online gambling industry's legalization in the United States in more recent times

However, it appears from reports from the US that Wynn's opposition does not extend to the lucrative possibilities of mobile betting on a Las Vegas based platform…in fact some reports suggest that a launch could be as close as next (February) month after two years of careful planning and preparation.

The publication Legal Sports Report quotes Wynn executive John Avello, who revealed that whilst the launch might be too late for the Super Bowl, it would be ready to accept wagers associated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s March Madness basketball tournament and the Kentucky Derby later in the year.

“We’ll offer everything that we offer in the book, including horse-racing futures," the Wynn executive said. "It’s pretty much the sportsbook in your pocket.”

Las Vegas is one of the few US places where punters can legally bet on sports using their mobiles, but only if they physically deposit and withdraw at a terrestrial betting outlet…and of course when using their mobile devices they must be within the borders of Nevada.

Wynn is coming to the mobile party a little late – William Hill and Boyd Gaming are both prominent in the US vertical.
