Social gaming veteran joins start-up platform

Betable has appointed former vice-president of Zynga's mobile division Ya-Bing Chu as its Chief Product Officer.

Betable's platform allows third party app developers to integrate and develop real-money play and virtual goods economies into their applications under Betable's UK-licence.

“This is an opportunity to pioneer this business, and this was too good to pass up,” said Chu commenting on his appointment.

Readers will recall recent deals between Betable and Big Fish Games who launched a Betable-powered real-money version of its Big Fish Casino on the iOS platform to UK residents.

Most recently the French-based mobile and social game developer Mandala Games entered into an exclusive partnership with the firm to launch a ‘real-money version’ of its iOS title "Slots by La Riviera" to the UK market.

Slingo, Murka Games and Digital Chocolate have also partnered with the platform on its private beta programme.  Betable makes its living by taking a share of revenues.

Chris Griffin, chief executive officer and founder of Betable said the firm will focus on the mobile platform initially saying the innovation is there, it’s the licence that's holding it back.

Betable was founded last year and employs just short of twenty employees some of which joined the company from other studios such as Klout, Gree and Electronic Arts according to AllthingsD.
