The “pass line” is the one bet to know. Most players bet on the pass line because the house edge is a mere 1.41%. It’s a simple bet placed on the pass line when the roll of the dice is a “come out” roll. You’ll know it’s a come out roll because there is a black laminated marker on the table that says "off." If the come out roll is a 2, 3, or 12, then you lose, but if the come out roll is a 7 or 11, you win even money.

If any other total is rolled (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10) it’s called a point, and the dealer will turn over the marker from “off” to “on” and place it on the space on the table that matches the number rolled. Then the dice will be rolled until they either roll the point number again, or they roll a seven. If they hit the point number again, you get paid even money. If they roll a seven, you lose your wager.
