Lottomatica is to re-brand to GTech
Friday January 25,2013 : LOTTOMATICA TO REBRAND TO GTECH
Italian giant integrates its businesses with its U.S. unit GTech Holdings Corporation.
The giant Italian and international land and online gambling group Lottomatica is to re-brand to GTech, it announced Thursday, motivated by the need to integrate its business units with its U.S. unit GTech Holdings Corporation.
According to a Reuters news agency report, the re-branding plan will be implemented throughout 2013, with Lottomatica operating under a unified structure aligned around three global geographic regions.
The group, currently organised in three separate business units, took over GTech Holdings in 2006 for $4.7 billion, becoming one of the largest groups of its kind in the world.
The change of name, which has yet to be given shareholder approval, will allow Lottomatica to take advantage of the global brand of GTech and help communicate the group's vision, the company said in a press statement.
In 2011, Lottomatica had Euro 3 billion ($3.9 billion) in revenues and 8,000 employees in over 60 countries.
GTech subsidiaries include Finsoft SpieloG2, an online gambling content distributor that is currently at the centre of an alleged cheating scandal being investigated by the Gibraltar online gambling regulator .
It was a big week all round for Lottomatica; the company also achieved intrastate online poker licensing status from the Nevada Gaming Commission, along with Sartini Synergy Online, a division of Golden Gaming.
The two companies became the 18th and 19th Nevada licensees following a meeting of the Commission Thursday.
Lottomatica hopes to provide software to casino operators seeking to open virtual poker rooms servicing Nevada residents, whilst Sartini has plans to extend its operator activities to the internet and mobile environment.
Blake Sartini, CEO of parent group Golden Gaming, told the commission his company is still developing its interactive gaming strategy, but wants to be prepared for the new licensed online poker market.
