Over 125K NJ Online Gambling Accounts
Tuesday December 31,2013 : THE NUMBER OF NEW JERSEY INTERNET GAMBLING ACCOUNTS CONTINUE TO GROW (Update)
Latest official numbers put total at 126,231 and counting....
Despite the expected disruption and hiatus of the festive season, the number of New Jersey online gambling accounts continued to grow this week, albeit at a slightly slower pace.
According to statistics provided by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, 16,285 accounts were opened this week at online gambling venues operated by the state's Atlantic City land casinos and their internet partners, bringing the total since the market opened to 126,231.
The DGE figures show steadily climbing interest in the new online gambling jurisdiction, rising from 17,000 in the first week to the current six-week total.
“We have seen a steady and continual increase in site traffic since November 21 due to the outreach of the casino operators,” said DGE Director David Rebuck. “We are encouraged by their marketing efforts and are optimistic for the future of New Jersey’s Internet gaming industry.”
Interest in the New Jersey operations is expected to increase early in the new year as the ambitious marketing campaigns of the operators get into full swing across New Jersey and neighbouring states.
In terms of online poker, Party Poker appears to be dominating the New Jersey scene, according to the independent online poker monitor Pokerscout; The online poker room dominates market share at 50 percent, averaging 240 real-money cash game players over the past seven days.
Nearest rival 888, partnered with Caesars Interactive Entertainment's World Series of Poker, hosted a seven-day average of 150 players, while the All American Poker Network (80 players) and Ultimate Poker (18 players) trailed behind.
