The All In Energy Drink company, partly owned by 10-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Johnny Chan and launched in 2007, has signed up for another year as a sponsor of the 2009 World Series of Poker, the company announced this week. In terms of a multi-year option, All In will continue to be the exclusive energy drink and bottled water of the WSOP in 2009.
All In spokesman Jason Chan said that following the success of last year's debut as a WSOP sponsor, the company feels it is the perfect partner for the global poker spectacular. "The WSOP is the richest tournament and attracts everyone in poker from around the globe," Chan said. "With such a large audience, we were able to efficiently and effectively introduce ourselves to our target market.” The energy drink has lured some of the top names in poker to wearing its patches during tournaments, including Johnny Chan, David Williams, Patrik Antonius, Freddy Deeb, and Annie Duke. In this respect, Johnny Chan's stature in the game has been an important element, the All In spokesman remarked.
"Johnny Chan is one of the founders and principals of the company; the poker celebrities are his friends and co-workers. Johnny’s legend, goodwill, and friendship were what allowed All In to befriend poker’s biggest names. We are very fortunate to be associated with these masters of the game and look forward to hydrating them for many years to come.”
Chan revealed that at the 2008 tournament All In employees gave out over 100 000 cans of the energy drink and over 300 000 bottles of “ultra-hydrating purified water."
In a change from the 2008 WSOP, all beverage servers during the 2009 event will wear All In Energy Drink gear, and the company’s logo will appear on the poker tables.
It is not yet known if the company is planning a repeat of its freeroll at the 2008 WSOP. All In ran a $500 000 freeroll during the 2008 WSOP for the top 1 200 loyal customers of its energy drink and bottled water. The tournament was run on July 1st, with 26 year-old Miami player Michael Gaetjens winning the first prize of $107 000 and a seat in the Main Event.
WSOP Marketing and Sponsorship Director Ty Stewart said: “We are pleased to continue our partnership with All In Energy Drink and Purified Water and we look forward to many years of partnership.”
