Monday October 1, 2012  :  Q3/2012 INDUSTRY APPOINTMENTS AND MOVEMENTS

Redbet Gaming Limited appointed Alexis Wicén as acting Managing Director, Director for Redbet Gaming Ltd and Redbet Malta (hldg) Ltd as well as Key Official to the Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LGA).

Redbet Holding AB's annual general meeting elected Jorgen Andersson (chairman), Niklas Braathen, Claes Hallen and Enar Bostedt.

Despite Redbet's Peter Åström being elected as a director, he could not be registered as a member of the board due to contractual limitations in a prior commitment to a third party.

Scientific Games Corporation appointed Dr. Jerry Bowskill in the newly created role of Chief Architect for the Interactive Services division of the company.

Two senior appointments were made to bolster the Company’s gaming division. Michael Koch was appointed managing director of International Business for the Gaming division while Gareth Philips was named chief technology officer for the division.

Scientific Games appointed Kevin Anderson to the newly created role of vice president of international business development for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) towards the end of the quarter.

International Game Technology appointed Leigh Nissim as its new commercial director for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Jack Davison joined sportsbetting data provider Betgenius in the newly created position of chief commercial officer.

Rank Group Plc hired former Morrisons marketing director James Condon to bring brand marketing for its Mecca Bingo physical and online presence together under one roof.

Later in the quarter, the firm appointed digital media specialist and Smarta.com founder Shaa Wasmund to the board as a non-executive director with effect from November 1, 2012.

Two Way Limited’s chief executive Chris Grant-Foster resigned.

William Hill hired the highly experienced Nevada bookie, Nick Bogdanovich, to lead its bookmaking operations in Nevada as director.  Along with Bogdanovich, the staff at William Hill includes former American Wagering bookmaker Bob Davis, and Tony DiTommaso, who held the same position at Brandywine Bookmaking. DiTommaso was named deputy director of trading, and Davis was named senior trader in Las Vegas.

Group Finance Director of Media Corp, the parent company of the disgraced Purple Lounge Group, Nilesh Jagatia’s resignation triggered a reshuffle that included the appointment of Mark Butt (34), managing director of subsidiary Eyeconomy, to the board of Media Corporation plc as an executive director, and the promotion of  finance manager Clive Eplett, to replace Jagatia.

Konstantinos Louropoulos was appointed president and chief executive of Greek state-controlled betting company OPAP replacing Ioannis Spanoudakis

Social online games developer Plumbee hired former NextGen manager Peter Stathis as lead mathematician and game designer for its newly formed in-house slots development team.

Playtech appointed Andrew Thomas as a Non-executive Director and Chair of the Audit Committee.

Social games developer PopCap Games‘ co-founder John Vechey confirmed the retrenchment of 50 staff members from its Seattle studios and warned of the further possibility of shuttering its Irish studio should profitability not improve.

Zynga appointed former 888.com executive Maytal Ginzburg as chief operating officer for new markets.

Mobile gambling firm Probability appointed Mike Shinya as Non-Executive Chairman following the retirement from the board of Graham Parr.

Online gambling group Sportingbet appointed Marie Stevens as a non-executive director.

Ladbrokes chief executive officer Chris Bell has become Chairman of concierge betting service Bet Butler.

Server-based gaming provider Inspired Gaming Group appointed Gerhard Burda as Non-Executive Strategic Advisor.  Burda spent eight years as managing director and chief executive officer of the German Atronic Group, prior to which he served three years as senior vice president at Gtech/Lottomatica.

Juha Koponen was appointed by the board of directors of Veikkaus Oy as the company's new chief executive officer effective October 2, 2012.

Mark Lipparelli, the high profile chairman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board, resigned ‘for personal reasons' effective the end September.

London-based Fantasy League Ltd appointed seasoned industry executive Simon Grieve to assist in the business' strategic development drive.

Australian Tatts Group Ltd appointed Robbie Cooke as chief executive officer and managing director, effective January 2013.

Satellite Information Services Ltd (SIS) chief executive officer David Holdgate will step down on December 31, 2012 after serving 14 years in the role.  Holdgate will be replaced by Gary Smith, who joined SIS earlier this year as chief operating officer.

Ladbrokes appointed a replacement for Jon Thompson, the group trading director who was dismissed earlier this year.  Replacement Andy Wright has experience going back well over a decade with major gambling companies like Betclic Everest, Stan James, Blue Square, Spreadex and UK Betting, and will report directly to Ladbrokes CEO Richard Glynn.

GigaMedia Limited appointed Steve Tsao as president and chief operating officer of its online gaming business FunTown.
