Wednesday June 20, 2012 : STEINBERG TAKES WSOP EVENT 33

Second time does the trick…

Overcoming a field of 2 795 in the World Series of Poker $1000 no-limit hold'em event 33, Max Steinberg (23) emerged victorious winning his first gold bracelet and $440 238.

The professional poker player hailing from Fairfield, Iowa who placed second in the same event in WSOP 2010 said: “It feels really, really good.  I got second two years ago, and I really wanted that bracelet. It just felt good to play really well at the final table, and get it in good and win, feeling like I was the best player there.”

Steinberg bested Samuel Gerber in the head's up, breaking the $1 million mark in career tournament earnings.  “I felt really comfortable, even in the heads up. Someone asked me if I felt extra pressure because I had gotten second before, and it was actually the opposite, I felt no pressure at all,” he said.
