2015 WSOP Main Event Day 2 Update


Thursday July 9,2015 : WORLD SERIES OF POKER DAY2 UPDATE
 
654 survive to Day 3, when the survivors combine for the first time.
 
The official World Series of Poker numbers are in, revealing that 654 players survived the 1,624-player field that started Day 2A play Wednesday. Massachusetts player Amar Anand was holding the biggest stack at 603,500 when the chips were bagged; his nearest challenger, Calvin Lee has 500,700 chips.
 
The names of more high visibility players who were eliminated are now available and include Carlos Mortenson, Isaac Haxton, Annette Obrestad, Erick Lindgren, Jeffrey Lisandro, Dominik Nitsche, Barry Shulman, Gavin Smith, Abe Mosseri, Jeremy Ausmus and Brian Rast.
 
Also out is Anthony "casedismissed" Spinella, who earlier in the tournament won the inaugural WSOP.com Online event.
 
The oldest man in the tournament, US Navy retiree William Wachter (94) survived the day with a higher than average chip stack and goes on to Day 3, as does Yorkshire, UK player Tom Yates, who won a one cent satellite at 888Poker that put him in line for a travel and entry package. He's on 100,000 chips.
 
Later today (Thursday) Las Vegas time the largest of the Day 2 fields will assemble as the 2,700 survivors of Day 1C compete to go through to Day 3.
