David Purvis New Stanleybet CEO


Thursday September 15,2011 : David Purvis replaces John Whittaker
 
The board of major sports betting group Stanleybet has appointed David Purvis (47) as the company’s new chief executive officer with immediate effect, replacing John Whittaker, who will remain as a strategic adviser to the group, according to a company statement.
 
Purvis joined the company in an executive marketing capacity three years ago, and has worked in various roles including that of general director and international managing director.  His resume prior to StanleyBet includes management positions at Cyberview plc, and as sales and marketing director at Inspired Gaming Group plc.
 
StanleyBet is active in a diversity of European countries and employs some 3,000 people in 2,000 operational outlets. The company has grown its business via a cross-border business model that has proved compatible with EU law and has been endorsed by ECJ findings in both the Gambelli (2003) and Placanica (2007) cases.
