INTERNET CAFÉ OWNER ACQUITTED OF GAMBLING CHARGES

but authorities vow to continue the fight

Jeaneen Cristante, of Marion Internet Services on US 441, who was charged with violating U.S. state laws by owning a gambling house and being in possession of slot machines was found not guilty by a jury in Marion County, Florida.

It is the authorities contention that these internet cafes are promoting illegal online gambling and Assistant State Attorney Mark Simpson insisted that the state would not stop going after the establishments, but the jury's decision in this case must surely make it more difficult to prosecute this type of activity.
