EOG owner Ken Weitzner and wife reported dead
4/12/10 – Mystery continues to surround officially unconfirmed reports that surfaced on Saturday that Eye On Gambling.com portal owner and sports betting industry personality Ken Weitzner and his wife Jacqueline had been found dead at their Chesapeake home.
Surprisingly, local police and the media did not seem aware of the report when approached, however a staff tribute appeared on EOG.com on Sunday, reinforcing posts on the site forum by the Weitzner's son, which indicated that no foul play was suspected. The 7 page, 222 post thread at EOG suggests confusion, sadness and incredulity among EOG forum regulars.
The staff tribute notes that Weitzner – universally known by his nickname "The Shrink" – and his wife had died on either late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.
"At this time, the details of their death have not been officially made public and when or if the family so chooses they can release these details when they are ready," the obituary notes before going on to give a moving farewell and tribute:
"Ken's influence and presence in the offshore gambling world will not be forgotten. Ken is well known throughout the industry for his formation of the The Prescription in 1997, which he later sold in 2002. However, he remained on staff until 2005. In 2005, he founded Eye on Gambling and up until his death ran the day-to-day operations of the site.
"On a personal level, Ken was known for his shrewd, innovative business ability, his generosity, his humor, and his willingness to help others. His infectious personality will be a lasting memory for those he left behind. His love for his family and friends, Old Dominion, the Yankees, and the Jets was well known amongst the posters.
"He had a kind and caring nature that many did not get the privilege to witness. His passion and drive for the industry and life led him to have many people who dearly cared about him as well as those that did not like him at all.
"For those of you that attended the first EOG Blast, you had the pleasure to meet Jackie. She was a very gracious and considerate woman. She had a wonderful smile that made everyone feel important and welcome. She was the strong will in the family and family was extremely important to her. She adored her sons and grandchildren.
"The void left by these two wonderful people never will be completely filled both in the offshore gambling world and in the lives of family and friends.
"The staff here at Eye on Gambling extends our deepest condolences to Ken and Jackie's two sons, their wives, five grandchildren, his mother, sister and nephew, immediate family, and dear friends."
