Poker Pro Falls Short On 100k Challenge

Tuesday January 21,2014 : POKER PRO FAILS CHALLENGE, BUT CHARITY STILL BENEFITS (Update)

Generous André "acoimbra" Coimbra to donate almost $70,000.

Our readers may recall the story of PokerStars Team Online professional player André "acoimbra" Coimbra, who in January 2012 began a self-imposed challenge to turn $100 into $100,000 within a year, playing only on Pokerstars online tournaments.

With the numbers now in it is clear that he missed the target, winning $69,200.55 that included a number of sizeable victories in very well supported and high profile Pokerstars tournaments.

Coimbra is honest in his analysis of why he failed to meet the target, noting that he should have spent more time playing instead of allowing himself to be diverted by other activities associated with his career as a poker professional.

The positive side of the story is that this generous professional has committed himself to donating all the money he has won in the challenge to charity – specifically the Associação Portuguesa de Pais e Amigos do cidadão Deficiente Mental, a charity body that supports persons afflicted with "intellectual disability" and their families.
