ASA Kills Betway Risk Free Ad

Thursday June 6,2013 : BETWAY RISK-FREE AD NIXED BY ASA

Misleading advertising in "risk free bet" promotion

Betting operation Betway.com has found itself on the wrong side of the UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) with a headline banner ad promoting a GBP 50 risk-free bet.

The ASA ruled that despite clear links and references to the associated terms and conditions, the ad could be misunderstood and misinterpreted that upon sign up a customer could bet with GBP 50 without loss.  However, the T's and C's indicated that customers were required to deposit and bet with their own money and that the "free bet" was in fact a refund, awarded in bonus funds, which would only be made to qualifying customers.

The ad may not appear again in its current form.
