Tuesday December 24,2013 : JUDGE SIGNS OFF ON ATLANTIC CLUB DISPOSAL (Update)

Atlantic City land casino will close January 13.

NBC10 Philadelphia reports that a federal bankruptcy judge has approved the sale and shutdown of Atlantic City's Atlantic Club Casino Hotel following an auction of the bankrupt company's assets earlier this week

The casino, which opened 33 years ago as the Golden Nugget, will shut its doors January 13.

Judge Gloria Burns approved a deal that was reached between two rival casino companies with a presence in Atlantic City, Tropicana Entertainment and Caesars Entertainment.

The two companies will buy the casino for $23.4 million, essentially strip it for parts and shut it down. The Tropicana will take the slot machines and table games, while Caesars will get the 800-plus-room hotel.
