New Regulations for Australian Online Gambling

Wednesday October 21,2015 :  SOUTH AUSTRALIAN GAMBLING AUTHORITY MULLS NEW REGULATIONS

Tighter restrictions on operators could be the result.

Australian media reports suggest that in South Australia the Independent Gambling Authority may be poised to bring in new and tighter regulations governing online operators.

Sources have reported that the IGA is considering requirements that operators process withdrawals from gamblers' accounts immediately, disclose ‘spotter' fees and only offer gamblers credit after a due diligence process.

South Australia government Business Services and Consumers Minister Gail Gago has welcomed the proposals, saying they could kick in as early as January 2016.

"In some cases, account holders are offered credit ranging from $200 to tens of thousands with no consideration given to the person's circumstances, their capacity to pay or their wellbeing," she said on Wednesday.
