Atlantic City casino takes the initiative in offering interactive television wagering to guests

In just six days, on February 18, the Borgata land casino in Atlantic City will take a major step into e-gaming with the launch of its new E-Casino, offering wagering to guests at its 2000-room hotel premises via interactive television.

The new offering lets guests with player's cards set up electronic accounts and risk up to $2,500 a day, reports the Associated Press news agency, noting that slots and four kinds of video poker will be the first games made available.

The casino says the technology can be expanded to include gambling over hand-held devices anywhere on casino property, and eventually, full Internet gambling, should New Jersey lawmakers and the state governor approve this . Nevada already allows sports betting on hand-held devices.
