Brazil’s gambling expansion legalization slows

BRAZILIAN GAMBLING EXPANSION HAS HURDLES AHEAD

Hopes for a fast vote fade.

The advance of Brazil's gambling expansion legalization, which includes online elements has been slowed by a political move which has seen the proposal re-routed to the Constitution and Justice Committee of the Senate instead of going to the floor for a vote.

Media reports from Brazil indicate that this means at least another three months before a vote is likely to materialize, with initial discussion set for February and a full debate and vote possibly in April.

Recentpoker.com readers will recall that in November last year the proposal received the support of the Senate Special Committee of National Development, which raised hopes that a fast passage and a vote would follow.
