The Caesars Palace Classic $10,000 championship is set to begin today at midday local time.
A total of 16 preliminary events have taken place over the last ten days and eight of the winners have been given a seat at the championship event.
The Las Vegas casino has been running a number of satellite competitions and promotions to broaden the field of the main event.
From the freeroll event which took place yesterday, 12 players qualified for the main event.
September's promotions saw 38 gamers qualify for the event, while a further 25 won seats as a result of their performances in the other competitions.
In total, 75 players are signed up so far, but this could be added to by Caesars to make a field of 90 hopefuls.
There will be a guaranteed first prize of $1 million and the final table to decide the recipient of this will take place on October 30th.
Caesars Palace has a dedicated poker room – which is 8,500 square feet – and also houses a 6,000 square foot tournament area
