PHIL IVEY'S EDGE-SORTING PARTNER IS AN INTERESTING CHARACTER

Gaming journalist highlights Cheung Yin Sun's background.

North Jersey.com journalist John Brennan flagged an interesting article on Phil Ivey's mysterious companion in his headline-grabbing, multi-million dollar edge-sorting adventures with the Crockfords and Borgata casinos several years ago.

These were recently in the headlines again following the conclusion of legal proceedings against Ivey, who will have to refund Borgata over $10 million.

The Asian woman who accompanied Ivey on his gambling visits to the casinos, Cheung Yin Sun, has intrigued many following reports of her self-trained ability to distinguish minute manufacturing flaws on playing cards, which enabled her to turn mini-baccarat games in her – and her partner’s – favor.

Brennan flagged an interesting New York Times article from June this year in which Sun's privileged background as the daughter of a Chinese manufacturing mogul and her fascination with gambling is unveiled.

The article is about advantage players, and Sun's interview is about half into the piece here:
