After five tough days, Brit player takes home GBP 105,900

Chris Ferguson (no, not that Chris Ferguson of Full Tilt fame) is currently celebrating a GBP 105,900 boost to his bankroll after taking down the PokerStars UK & Ireland Poker Tour Newcastle main event, despite plenty of opposition from a star-studded entry field of 623 players.

Among the entrants were notable names like WSOP ace Sam Holden, Jude Ainsworth, Liv Boeree, Sam Grafton, Vicky Coren, Max Silver and Maximilian Heinzelmann.

Ferguson had to work hard for his winner's prize in the GBP 770 buy-in event over the five days of the tournament, which culminated in a final table that comprised Ferguson and Alex Jobling, Sam Holden, David Knight, Ewan Brown, Anthony Shields, Jack Sambrook, Dan Hemingway and Matthias Mordhorst.

Entering the heads up at a 2 to 1 disadvantage, Ferguson displayed both character and skill in fighting back into contention and taking the game from his very ablke heads up opponent, Alex Jobling, who left with a second prize purse worth GBP 63,860.
