Targeting Dutch Gambling consumers carries consequences

Monday April 11,.2016 : DUTCH AUTHORITY WARNS OPERATORS ON UPCOMING SUMMER GAMES PROMOTIONS

Targeting Dutch consumers carries consequences.

The Dutch gaming authority Kansspelautoriteit has reminded operators to ensure upcoming summer sports promotions do not target Dutch consumers.

The authority specifically mentions promotions and/or advertising on the upcoming European Football Championships, Tour de France and the 2016 Olympics.

Kansspelautoriteit says it is issuing the communication to avoid “all kinds of providers and advertisers from using the massive summer sports competitions to lure Dutch customers into illegal gambling” and warns that operators and providers who choose to ignore the request will not be considered for a license once the country’s new online gambling bill comes into force and will, in addition, face hefty sanctions.
