Monday February 15,2015 :  MUSTAPHA KANIT VICTORIOUS IN EUROPEAN POKER TOUR DUBLIN TOURNAMENT

Poker pro wins Euro 501,640 in High Roller event.

Italian poker pro Mustapha Kanit is Euro 501,640 wealthier this morning after taking down the Euro 25,750 buy-in European Poker Tour Dublin High Roller competition and besting a stellar 70-player entry field over the weekend.

The event represented the priciest tournament held in Ireland yet in terms of buy-in.

Entering the final table stage as a very dominant chip leader, Kanit powered his way through the final stages of the game to reach the heads up against the USA's Chance Kornuth with a respectable lead.

Kornuth was having none of that, however, and staged an impressively skilful rally to level and then take the lead, extending at one point to a 2 to 1 chip advantage.

It wasn't enough to hold back a rampant Kanit and some good cards that enabled the Italian pro to regain the lead and then maintain it to victory over a very good opponent.

Kornuth took home Euro 360,150 for his trouble and time, with the rest of the final table cashes looking like this:

Charlie Carrel UK Euro 234,100
Anton Bertilsson Sweden Euro 176,640
Jeff Rossiter Australia Euro 137,200
Keith Johnson UK Euro 106,330
Nick Petrangelo USA Euro 84,040
Ivan Luca Argentina Euro 65,170
Martin Jacobson Sweden Euro 49,730
