Espen Jorstad 2022 WSOP Winner


WSOP Main Event Ends with Espen Jorstad Triumphant. While the World Series of Poker may continue for another two days, the Main Event has already drawn to a close. Day 47 at Bally’s & Paris saw Norway’s Espen Jorstad walk away with the $10,000,000 purse for first place and his second WSOP bracelet this summer. While a skilled player, Jorstad wasn’t expected to win, given the competition. This has only made the win more of a surprise.

Espen Jorstad Wins

With the win in the Main Event, Espen Jorstad becomes the first player since Greg Merson (in 2012) to win two bracelets in the same series. Back then, he won the Main Event, and the $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em 6-Handed Championship. Jorstad has won several events in his pro poker career. The Twitch streamer, who regularly plays at PokerStars under the name Hymn2ninkasi and GGPoker under COVFEFE-19, won his seat at the 2022 WSOP playing online winning satellites at GGPoker. The poker pro lives in the UK.

The Rest of the Deck

Finishing runner-up was Australia’s Adrian Attenborough. He took home a $6 million prize, while Michael Duek of Argentina ended up third with $4 million. The top five was rounded off by the UK’s John Eames and his $3 million prize. While Croatia’s Matija Dobric took home $2.25m.

Elsewhere in the top ten, there were sixth, seventh and eighth-placed finishes for Jefferey Farnes. He isthe highest scoring American, Canada’s Aaron Duczak, and the UK’s Philippe Souki. Matthew Su and Asher Conniff rounded off the table for the US.

What Else Happened?

There were other events on the fly at the WSOP over the weekend, too. Tomasz Gluszko is currently leading the pack in the $3,000 H.O.R.S.E. final three at the time of writing. At the same time, Fred “Staeks” Li scooped top place in the $777 Lucky 7’s No-Limit Hold’em Second Chance event, taking home a $159,060 prize. Li tasted success online, narrowing down the 781-field to win his share of the $854,700 prize pool and a bracelet to boot.

Ongoing events that are set to end today include Events 85, 86 and 87. We await news on the $1,500 Closer, $10,000 6-Handed No-Limit Hold’em Championship, and the $5,000 8-Handed No-Limit Hold’em competition. The World Series of Poker is scheduled to continue for two more days until it ends. Additionally the World Series of Poker Circuit Tour begins on Wednesday.
