Gerald Greenfield Indicted for running illegal sportsbook


Friday May 23,2014 :  MINNESOTA MAN INDICTED FOR ILLEGAL NORTH DAKOTA SPORTS BETTING OPERATIONS
 
68-year-old accused of running an online sports betting enterprise through Costa Rica.
 
According to reports Thursday in the Bismark Tribune, a 60-year-old Minnesota man, Gerald Greenfield, has been indicted by a federal grand jury and stands accused of running a North Dakota illegal sports betting operation through websites in Costa Rica.
 
The indictment claims that Greenfield ran the operation for four years from 2007, generating around $10 million a year in wagers and annual profits of between $500,000 and $600,000.
 
Greenfield also is accused of illegally transmitting wager information and money laundering.
 
He has a previous criminal record, having been convicted on mortgage fraud charges in Minnesota and charges associated with escaping from a federal prison in Duluth last year whilst serving his 4 years sentence.
