GO Wins Malta Lottery Contract

Monday March 11,2013 : GO WINS NEW MALTA LOTTERY ONLINE CONTRACT

Working relationship between the companies goes back to 2004

Malta's lottery contractor Maltco’s CEO Ioannis Katakis and Go plc chief exec Yiannos Michaelides have inked a fresh contract that will see Go again powering the online activities of Maltco following a renewal of its long term lottery contract.

The Times of Malta reports that Maltco, a subsidiary of the Intralot Group, received its first licence to run the National Lottery of Malta for a period of eight years on an exclusive basis in 2004.

This year Maltco was given a renewal of its licence with the Lotteries and Gaming Authority, along with a further ten-year concession.

Technology advances dictated the need for a new platform with higher data speeds, more stringent network requirements and resilience, leading to the renewal of the technical contract with locally-based IT and communication specialist Go.

Adopting a new Go infrastructure involves a migration from the current legacy network to Ethernet, which will provide Maltco with more flexibility, higher speeds and enhanced management, the companies said at this week's signing ceremony.

The Go system’s flexibility will provide all 240 Maltco agencies with the required speeds while having a constant mobile 3G backup, and is readily scalable to several hundred installations.

Dr Katakis said Maltco’s plans to invest in a new fully-animated gaming experience is only possible in states where a stable infrastructure is available.

“For over nine years Go plc  has provided us with an impeccable range of telecommunications services which include fixed line and mobile telephony, digital broadband and IP services as well as internet and data networking solutions,” said Dr Katakis.

“In view of Go’s proven working commitment, the two companies have accepted to enter into another multi-year service contract.”
